EmpowerHer: Building Small-scale business success for Women
We have dedicated our efforts through the EmpowerHer project to train, mentor and support women with skills, knowledge, and resources they need to successfully manage and grow their own businesses. Women in the lowlands of Kasese face unique challenges in the entrepreneurial and business environment, ranging from limited access to capital and training opportunities to balancing business responsibilities with family duties, as many are the sole breadwinners of their households. We launched this initiative to break down these barriers and support women in realizing their full potential as entrepreneurs.
Our project offers comprehensive, tailor-made training programs that align with the business interests and needs of the communities where our women live. We provide mentorship and access to essential business resources, equipping women with the tools they need to start, sustain, and scale their businesses. Our training covers key areas such as bookkeeping and records management, small-scale marketing, business planning, and customer relations, ensuring that the women we support are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of running a small business.
Beyond practical business management skills, the EmpowerHer project nurtures a supportive network of women entrepreneurs who can share experiences, offer mutual support, and collaborate for mutual growth. We believe that by empowering women in business, we are not only enhancing their economic independence but also contributing to the broader economic development of our community. This project is about more than just business—it’s about fostering confidence, self-reliance, and the belief that every woman has the power to create positive change in her life and the lives of those around her. Together, we are building a future where women’s businesses thrive and contribute to the prosperity of the entire community.
Voice of a Beneficiary
“Before joining the EmpowerHer project, I struggled with managing my small shop. I didn’t know how to keep proper records, and marketing my products was a challenge. But with the training and mentorship I received, I’ve learned how to manage my sales and profits made, attract more customers, and even plan for future growth. I now feel confident in running my business, and my income has increased significantly as seen from my current stock. Thanks to EmpowerHer, I can support my children’s education and have hope for a brighter future.”
